Eight floors up, in a tower that was already a nightlife address

Upper is on the eighth floor of California Tower, 30–32 D'Aguilar Street, in the middle of Lan Kwai Fong. FAYY holds the penthouse and rooftop on 25–26 of the same building — the floors CÉ LA VI occupied until it gave up its lease at the end of 2019. Stacking nightlife floor on floor in a single Central address is not unusual here; Lan Kwai Fong runs vertically as often as it runs along the street. It does mean Upper opened into a tower with an established late-night crowd already riding its lifts, rather than having to build one from nothing.

Four nights, and the listing came from Lan Kwai Fong itself

The soft opening ran four nights, Wednesday to Saturday, 24–27 June 2026 — and it wasn't Upper's own account that announced it. The listings were published by Lan Kwai Fong's official account, describing the room as "LKF's newest after-dark address on the 8th floor of California Tower." The closing night's listing read, in full:

"Final night of the initial soft opening run at Upper Hong Kong."

No grand opening has been named since, and nothing in the seven weeks since has read as a stall. This is a group whose entire way of working is quiet by design — a four-night test run with no scheduled successor is exactly the kind of move an operator makes when it's still deciding how loud to get, not when it's deciding whether to stay open.

The company behind it doesn't put a name to any of it

Upper's operator calls its own portfolio "The Savoy Family" — Upper House, Baccarat, 24BLVD and House of Savoy, four rooms in Bangkok sitting under Davis Corporation. Across two languages and every one of those venues, there is no founder interview, no owner quote, no named operator anywhere on the record. That isn't a hole in the research — it's how the group has chosen to run every room it's opened. The story here was never going to be about a person, and we're not going to invent one to fill the space where a name usually sits.

Three Bangkok rooms, then Hong Kong three weeks after the fourth

Baccarat, the group's cocktail room, opened in late December 2023. 24BLVD, the multi-venue complex that now holds several of the group's Bangkok rooms, followed in June 2025. Upper House itself soft-launched inside that complex on 4 July 2025. House of Savoy, the newest of the Bangkok rooms, opened on 6 June 2026 — and Upper's Hong Kong soft opening followed three weeks after that, the group's first room outside Thailand. Read that cadence in order and it isn't a group testing the water once. It's a group that has now opened four rooms in under three years, on a schedule that's been getting tighter, not slower.

Not the five-star hotel two districts over

One thing worth being direct about: The Upper House is Swire Hotels' five-star property in Admiralty, and it has nothing to do with this room. Upper Hong Kong is a club in Lan Kwai Fong, run by a Bangkok nightlife operator, and the two share nothing but three words in the name. Search for "Upper Hong Kong" or just "Upper" — searching "Upper House Hong Kong" will land you at the hotel instead.

What we're holding back, and why

Upper is a Bangkok room, and Bangkok's answers don't automatically become Hong Kong's. Opening hours, the music policy, the dress code, table minimums — we've seen how the group runs its rooms at home, but none of it transfers automatically to California Tower, so none of it goes on this page until it's confirmed on the ground here. Unknowns stay labelled unknown; this page updates as they close, not before.

One detail worth flagging rather than printing as fact: the group's Bangkok rooms run on a single visual motif, a cherry, stamped across taglines, room fixtures and the line "the cherry on top" — deployed everywhere, never once explained. Whether it made the trip to the eighth floor of California Tower is one of the more interesting open questions on this page, and until we've been in the room ourselves, we're not going to guess at it.

Getting in — and why Mandos is actually the easy way
