Lorenzo Antinori and Simone Caporale built Montana as Bar Leone's Cuban-inspired little sister

Montana opened on Hollywood Road in July 2025, the second Hong Kong project from Lorenzo Antinori, who runs Bar Leone two minutes away, and Simone Caporale, co-founder of Sips in Barcelona. The two met in London in 2012. Where Bar Leone plays it Roman, Montana plays it Cuban: the room takes its cue from Club de los Cantineros, Havana's bartenders' guild founded in 1920, filtered through the rhythm of 1970s disco. Downstairs runs black-and-white tile and ox-blood red leather; upstairs, a piano sits under framed photos of Donna Summer and Gloria Estefan, and live Latin sets run most nights.

The menu runs rum-forward. The Montana Daiquiri pairs Havana rum with raspberry eau de vie and lime, poured into a glass shaped like a flower. The Hotel Nacional adds apricot brandy and absinthe to the classic rum-lime-pineapple frame. The Café Havana takes the espresso martini and tops it with banana cream. Bar snacks lean into the same frame: prosciutto chips with mascarpone, spicy corn ribs, pan con tomate focaccia, and pineapple roasted whole on the rotisserie behind the bar for a piña colada finished with toasted coconut.

Montana placed #47 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026, inside a year of opening

The list was announced 28 July 2026 in Macau. Montana's placement puts it alongside a run of Hong Kong openings that made the cut without a track record behind them — Mius, which opened in the same window, is the other. Bar Leone, Antinori's first Hong Kong room, was named World's Best Bar 2025 the October before; Montana is the follow-up built by the same hand, on the same street, running a different script.
