Argo
Inside the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, a circular bar wrapped in revolving shagreen cylinders backs up its case for a place among Asia's best — No. 37 in 2026.
Fact-checked 11 October 2026
The bar's counter turns eight shagreen-wrapped cylinders through the day
Argo opened in 2021 on the first floor of the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong at 8 Finance Street, Central, looking out over Victoria Harbour, as the final piece of the hotel's second-phase renovation alongside a new café and gallery. AB Concept designed the room as a Gilded Age conservatory: a circular bar wrapped in shagreen-clad cylinders that rotate open and shut as the day moves from breakfast service into the small hours, each turn changing which bottles sit on view. The dining room carries mirrored walls hung with paper sculptures of butterflies and insects, made to reward a second look rather than a first one. Seating runs to cushioned booths along the walls, and the dress code is smart casual.
The Argo Martini runs on a house gin distilled with The Never Never Distilling Co.
The bar commissioned its own gin from the South Australian distillery The Never Never Distilling Co. and adjusts it seasonally with hydrosols, then pours it as the Argo Martini, the one constant on a menu that otherwise turns over. The current list, Exploration, launched in March 2026 and splits into three sections: Local Encounters, built with Hong Kong collaborators and including a Hong Kong Punch of Cognac, shochu, botanical liqueur, black tea and egg tart foam; Seasonal Journeys, produce-led drinks such as a Rooty Slushy made with rum, sweet potato, truffle honey and balsamic; and Timeless Passages, ten cocktails that stay on the list across seasons regardless of what rotates around them.
Argo has placed on Asia's 50 Best Bars every year since its 2022 debut
Argo debuted on the World's 50 Best Bars extended list at No. 28 in 2022, reached No. 11 on Asia's 50 Best Bars in 2025, and placed No. 37 on the 2026 list, announced 28 July 2026. This year it also took Best International Hotel Bar and Rising Star for Jack Ng at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards, Best Bar at the Foodie Forks awards, and Best Service at Tatler's Hong Kong & Macau list. It doesn't take reservations: it's a walk-in bar, open until 1am Monday to Thursday and until 2am on Friday and Saturday, and the queue on the hotel's first floor is part of how Central decides where a night starts.
