Space Club

Space Club climbed from 92nd to 69th on DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs in a single year — the sharpest rise of any Hong Kong room — out of a 500-capacity, Funktion-One floor on Wyndham Street that runs its whole operation off Instagram, WhatsApp and a Korean-language booking channel.

Fact-checked 12 October 2026

Ninety-two to sixty-nine. That's Space Club's move on DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs between the 2025 and 2026 lists — twenty-three places in a single year, the sharpest climb by any Hong Kong room on the chart. It happened without a website. Space runs its entire operation off Instagram, WhatsApp table bookings and a dedicated KakaoTalk channel for its Korean guests, out of a room on the ground floor of The Centrium on Wyndham Street that most of Hong Kong's English-language nightlife press has never written about.

The design fuses an outer-space concept with wood and stone

Space was built by Clarity Concepts, and the brief was taken literally rather than gestured at. DJ Mag's own description of the room, filed for its 2025 Top 100 Clubs entry, is specific: reflective surfaces that read like the hull of a space shuttle, offset against wood and stone for balance, under a lighting rig DJ Mag noted had been recently redesigned and fully upgraded. It's a harder combination to pull off than a single-material room, and it's the reason Space photographs like nowhere else in Central. Space's own language for what it's trying to do with all of it is blunter than the design brief.

"Elevating every performance to a 'cosmic level.'"

— Space Club, as quoted in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs profile, 2025

Capacity holds at 500 — one of the few venue numbers in this city that nobody disputes

Every source that quotes a figure for Space agrees on 500, DJ Mag included, in both its 2025 and 2026 profiles. The sound system is Funktion-One — the same specification Boomerang runs four hundred metres away in LKF Tower — though the two rooms sound nothing alike. Space runs a steadier, more programmed tempo: techno, house and EDM sets built to build across a night, rather than a bar-style rotation that lurches between genres on request. Booking platform Outlas describes the room as running "a long DJ floor" with "efficient service," pulling what it calls a young, HK weekend-party-and-after-work crowd rather than a tourist one.

It books global circuit DJs and internet-native ones on the same calendar

In the twelve months that produced the DJ Mag jump, Space's bookings carried Alan Walker, Timmy Trumpet — DJ Mag's sixth-ranked DJ in the world for 2025 — Lost Frequencies, James Hype, R3HAB, W&W, and, on one bill, the R&B singer Ne-Yo. It also gave Vikkstar, the Sidemen member turned touring DJ, his first Hong Kong show on 3 October 2025, and booked YouTube-native DJ Ian Asher for a June 2026 date. Circuit headliner one week, creator-DJ the next, on the same 500-capacity floor. That's a booking policy, not an inconsistency — a bet that an audience built on YouTube and TikTok spends the same as one built on Beatport, and Space's DJ Mag climb suggests the bet is paying off.

The event listings run Chinese-first, and Korean guests get their own channel

Space's own posts go up with the date written the Cantonese way — 8月13號 before "August 13" — and English trailing behind, if it appears at all. Korean speakers get a dedicated KakaoTalk line for table bookings and guest-list requests, sitting alongside the WhatsApp number everyone else uses. In a district where the default marketing language is English by a wide margin, Space is already doing the thing Hong Kong's nightlife coverage has mostly ignored: talking to its actual crowd in the language it reads in, rather than translating an English brand after the fact.

Tickets route through three different platforms, not one

A ticket to a headline night at Space might sell through Eventbrite, Electric Soul or Live Nation Hong Kong, depending on the show — three separate ticketing platforms feeding the same room, no single point of entry. Table and bottle bookings go through WhatsApp, or through KakaoTalk for Korean guests. It's a booking path built for a venue that markets primarily through its own Instagram feed and word of mouth, not through a listings site.

It sits five minutes from Lan Kwai Fong, not inside it

The address is the ground floor of The Centrium, 60 Wyndham Street — a five-minute walk from the top of the Central–Mid-Levels Escalators and from Lan Kwai Fong proper, close enough to catch the district's overflow without its rent or its noise complaints. Doors run Wednesday to Sunday, 11pm to 5am, closed Monday and Tuesday. Dress code is smart and elegant, and the room is 21-plus.

Dragon-i sits one floor up, in the same building, running a completely different era

The Centrium holds two Hong Kong clubs stacked on top of each other. Dragon-i upstairs, open since 2002 and rebuilt this year around a members' room named after a BPM. Space at street level — newer, louder, aimed at a crowd as likely to have found it through a DJ's Instagram Reel as through two decades of door reputation. Neither venue markets the other, and neither needs to. One address, two completely different theories of what a Hong Kong night out is for.
