Tsim Sha Tsui
Cross the harbour and the rules change. Tsim Sha Tsui does its drinking on Knutsford Terrace — a short pedestrian ramp of a street, stacked with tables — and it does it after dinner, not instead of it.

Knutsford Terrace, the one street
Where SoHo sprawls and Wan Chai runs in lines, TST's bar life concentrates almost entirely on one pedestrian stretch: Knutsford Terrace, a raised, car-free lane a short walk up from the main drag. That concentration is the point. You don't district-hop in TST the way you do on the island — you go to the Terrace, and the choosing happens once you're standing on it. It's the closest thing Kowloon-side has to a purpose-built night street, and it wears that openly.
A dinner town that stays out
TST is a dining quarter first, and its nightlife inherits that. The evening tends to start at a table — Kowloon eats seriously and early — and moves to a drink afterward rather than skipping the meal. That sequence shapes the Terrace: it fills later off the back of dinner, and the al-fresco tables are built for a group that's already eaten and wants to sit outside with the night. Plan the meal, and the drinks arrange themselves.
The harbour-side angle
The other half of TST's night isn't on the Terrace at all — it's the water. This is the side of the harbour that looks back at the island skyline, and a good TST evening can be as much about where you stand to see it as what's in the glass. We'd tell a visitor to treat the two as one plan: the view early while the light's still changing, the Terrace once it's dark. It's the one district here where the setting is a reason to come, not just a backdrop.
Frequently asked
- Where do you go out in Tsim Sha Tsui?
- The bar cluster is Knutsford Terrace, a short pedestrian street of stacked outdoor tables a few minutes' walk up from Nathan Road. TST sits on the Kowloon side of Victoria Harbour, directly across from Hong Kong Island and easy to reach by MTR or the Star Ferry.
- How is TST different from the island's nightlife?
- It's more concentrated and more dinner-led. Instead of drifting between districts, you head for one street — Knutsford Terrace — usually after a meal, and the harbour itself is part of the evening in a way it isn't across the water.
