Hong Kong Reaches 77 Michelin-Starred Restaurants in 2026, Up From 76

77 restaurants, up one

The 18th edition of the Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau, released on 19 March 2026 at a ceremony in Macao, put 77 restaurants in Hong Kong on the starred list, up from 76 the year before. Macau's count rose too, to 21. Across both cities that is 98 starred addresses — a bigger table than the guide has set in either city before this edition.

Seven kitchens hold three stars

Hong Kong's three-star roster for 2026 runs seven deep: T'ang Court, Amber, Caprice, Forum, Ta Vie, Sushi Shikon and 8½ Otto e Mezzo – Bombana. Every one of them has carried three stars for multiple editions running — this is a guide rewarding consistency at the top, not reshuffling it.

Two new names joined the one-star list

China Tang, the Cantonese and Sichuan room at The Landmark, earned its first star in this edition. So did Sushi Takeshi, the Edomae counter at The Mira. Both are trading now — this is the detail worth carrying to dinner, not a name from an old edition that has since closed its kitchen.

The tourism math behind it

Hong Kong drew 26.71 million visitors in the first half of 2026, up 13% year on year (HKTB, via The Standard, 16 July 2026). Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law has been explicit about what she wants that traffic chasing: at the Hong Kong Tourism Overview forum on 18 March 2026 — the day before the Michelin ceremony — she said today's travellers "crave unique experiences that money alone cannot necessarily buy," and framed the city's pitch around value and lasting impression rather than the retail draw it was once built on. A guide that just added a table's worth of new stars is the easiest evidence she has.
