Stanley Street, Central, Now Has Two Cold-Plunge Clubs

The Ice Bath Club's new Stanley Street site has sold out all three of its founding memberships before opening — and it isn't alone on the block. Recovery has become a going-out category in Hong Kong, and it's drawing the same crowd as the night before.

Stanley Street, Central, Now Has Two Cold-Plunge Clubs

The founding memberships for Ice Bath Club's second site are already gone

The Ice Bath Club already runs a flagship at 38 Belcher's Street in Kennedy Town — open daily 7am to 10pm, no booking required, a cold-plunge pool held at 3-10°C next to a 90°C sauna and a magnesium salt bath. It's since opened a second Hong Kong site at 10 Stanley Street in Central, running the same daily 7am-to-10pm, drop-in hours. On the club's own site, all three founding-membership tiers for that address — Founding Annual, Founding Daily and Founding 100 — had sold out before the doors even opened.

It shares the street with a second operator

One number down, at 11 Stanley Street, ASAP — Alternate Sauna And Plunge — already runs what it calls the largest Finnish sauna in Central alongside five individual ice baths. Two operators running the same format on the same street, in a city where this format barely existed eighteen months ago, isn't a niche holding on. It's a category with more demand than supply.

The format has spread past one street

Across the harbour in Causeway Bay, Recovery Hub runs a Finnish sauna and a 10-12°C plunge out of a walk-up unit on Russell Street. Its own pitch skips the athletic framing — the club calls itself a social space for friends, not a training add-on. Three venues, three districts, the same idea underneath: the room isn't built around the workout. It's built around who else is booked in.

The going-out crowd and the recovery crowd are starting to overlap

None of this replaces a night out — it sits next to it. A table of eight can book a sauna slot the way they'd book a table at a bar: a shared plan, a shared calendar entry, a shared story afterward. For a city that already treats the group chat as the real decision-maker for where a night goes, a plunge with the same friends who were out on Friday is just the next slot in the same social rhythm, not a different one.

Frequently asked

Is this really a social trend, or just a fitness one?
Every operator we found frames it that way in its own marketing. The Ice Bath Club builds around walk-in group sessions with no booking required, ASAP calls itself a social sauna and plunge studio, and Recovery Hub markets itself explicitly as a space for friends rather than solo training. That's the operators' own positioning, not ours.
Where are these clubs?
The Ice Bath Club runs a flagship at 38 Belcher's Street, Kennedy Town, and a second site at 10 Stanley Street, Central. ASAP is at 11 Stanley Street, Central. Recovery Hub is on Russell Street, Causeway Bay.
Can you drop in without a membership?
At Kennedy Town, yes — The Ice Bath Club sells single-day and off-peak day passes alongside its monthly memberships. Check each club's own site for its Stanley Street and Causeway Bay terms before you go, since access varies by location.
