Halloween in Lan Kwai Fong 2026: two calendars, three Saturdays, and the one most people will get wrong

The Tourism Board's first Hong Kong Halloween Month puts cosplay street parties across five districts on 17, 24 and 31 October. Lan Kwai Fong's own programme starts earlier and runs longer. Plan around the Saturdays alone and you miss half of it.

Halloween in Lan Kwai Fong 2026: two calendars, three Saturdays, and the one most people will get wrong

Two calendars, and the one you'll hear about is the shorter one

The Hong Kong Tourism Board announced its first Hong Kong Halloween Month at the end of September, themed "Make the Streets Your Runway". The part that will travel is three consecutive Saturdays — 17, 24 and 31 October 2026 — with cosplay street parties across five districts: the Chater Road area and Lan Kwai Fong in Central, Kai Tak Sports Park, Langham Place in Mong Kok, and Mody Road Garden in Tsim Sha Tsui. (HKTB, 30 September 2026)

Lan Kwai Fong's own programme is wider than that. LKF lists its Halloween as running 14 to 31 October, under the name "Halloween Cosplay Party @ LKF Monster Mash". So the three Saturdays everyone will share are the headline, not the whole thing — and the quietest, most walkable nights in the district are the ones nobody is posting about.

What the three LKF nights actually are

Three themed nights carry the LKF programme: Monster DJ Night, Wizard Block Party and Monsters Night. Monsters Night is the one built around a "Monster Photo Hunt" and closes with a large DJ party. The footprint is D'Aguilar Street, Lan Kwai Fong itself and Wo On Lane. That detail is worth more than the names: it tells you which stretch stops being busy and starts being impassable.

The free rides are real, and they have a condition

People in costume ride Citybus night services and the trams free on 17, 24 and 31 October. The condition is the costume, and "in costume" is a judgement someone makes at the door rather than a published threshold — so treat it as a bonus if it lands, not as your transport plan. Check the operator's own terms before you rely on it.

Halloween night is a Saturday this year, which compounds everything

31 October 2026 falls on a Saturday. It is simultaneously the last of the three Tourism Board Saturdays, the closing night of LKF's own two-week programme, and Halloween itself. Three reasons for the same crowd to pick the same night. If you want the spectacle, that is the night. If you want to move around, it is the one to avoid — and the 14–31 window gives you eleven other evenings.

Getting out, which is the part nobody plans

Most MTR stations run their last trains at around 00:50, so past 1am you need another way home. Urban taxi flagfall is $29 and the meter covers everything — there is no official late-night surcharge — but cross-harbour tunnel and return fares are charged on top, so settle that before the car moves. On the three Saturdays the street is the event, not the venue. Decide which of those two you actually came for before you pick a night.

If you want a table rather than a street

The district still works as an ordinary night out across the whole window, but on 17, 24 and 31 October the pavement belongs to the parade. If you want to sit down and hear each other, book ahead, or take one of the weeknights between the Saturdays — same decorations, a tenth of the crowd.

Frequently asked

When is the Lan Kwai Fong Halloween street party 2026?
LKF's Halloween programme runs 14 to 31 October 2026, and the citywide cosplay street parties fall on the three Saturdays — 17, 24 and 31 October. Halloween night itself is Saturday 31 October. (lankwaifong.com and HKTB, read 1 October 2026)
Is Hong Kong Halloween Month free to attend?
The street programmes are public street events rather than ticketed ones. Individual bars, clubs and dinner events inside the district set their own door charges and minimums, so check the specific venue rather than assuming the night is free throughout.
Do you really get free transport if you dress up?
People in costume ride Citybus night services and the trams free on 17, 24 and 31 October. Whether an outfit qualifies is decided at the door, not by a published rule, so do not build your journey home around it. (HKTB, 30 September 2026)
Which streets does the LKF Halloween party actually cover?
D'Aguilar Street, Lan Kwai Fong itself and Wo On Lane. That is also the stretch that becomes genuinely hard to walk through on the Saturday nights.
How do I get home from Lan Kwai Fong on Halloween night?
Most MTR stations run their last trains around 00:50. After that it is a taxi — $29 flagfall with no official late-night surcharge, but cross-harbour tunnel and return fares added — or a night bus, which runs less often than daytime services.
